Does anyone have recent experience of Bushy mead high school?

How is it study wise?

Is it very academic or balanced?

Do kids go to good universities after finishing school?

What is the school culture like? Is there a lot of bullying and how is it addressed?

Any input will be much appreciated.

I don’t have any personal experience but it is definitely regarded as one of the less academic schools in and around Watford.

I’ve only ever heard good things about this school. They chose to step out of the grammar system a few years back. It’s a rat race, and Watford has an abundance of them. Which if that’s your marker for academic then you should go for a grammar school. If you want a good school that works with your children not just for its ratings then you could do far worse than Bushey Meads. We feel lucky to have our son attend.

Hi. Regarding Bushey meads. Since leaving the Herts consortium it has gone downhill for sure. They lost their best 2 maths teachers last year in the middle of A levels for year 13's (how considerate!) and left the students to make the best of the situation. Positives? Well the P.E & Tech dept is the best..great teachers in that dept..really awesome! Sixth form reception amazing too...with a good common sense approach. Would I choose the school overall? No, but then the likes of the nearby schools may sway you otherwise.
