Hope Valley or Lady Manners

I’ve posted on the general ‘Education’ page but only used initials for schools. I’ve also seen a thread from 13 years ago with the same title and wondered what peoples opinions are of the schools now. I keep changing my mind as to which is best. The 10 minutes drive to bus stop and 50 mins bus journey to HV does put me off. Any thoughts appreciated

Are you in the catchment for both schools?

Muggcake · 24/10/2023 22:38

@DisquietintheRanks no but 15 mins from LMS and a 50 min bus journey from HP. Been told there are places in both

Its very difficult to get into Lady manners if you're not in catchment but as you're close to it I guess you are - or maybe looking at an in-year transfer? Fwiw I would go for Lady Manners like a shot. I don't know anyone with kids at Hope Valley college currently but a few years ago it was def one to avoid.

I'd look around. They’re quite different. Lady Manners has a strong reputation and always has. More academic and middle class. HVC jas had some tough years and changed its leftie, progressive ethos to a more mainstream one. More of a mixed catchment IMO.

Of the two Lady Manners. Is Highfields a consideration? It gets as good, if not better, results.
