Just wondering whether anyone here has has current/recent experience of this school?
We’re currently in a north London suburb but aren’t happy with our local secondary options and have been considering moving out for a while - we’ve long had our eye on Saffron Walden and like the genuinely comprehensive nature and focus on the arts/music that SWCHS seems to have (a welcome contrast from our local academy, which is super strict with a narrow curriculum).
But looking at their results for this year they seem to have taken quite a dip (57% 5+ in English and Maths compared to 67% in 2022), and their Progress 8/value added doesn’t look great. Bit worried about making the decision to move and then finding it isn’t academic enough for DD, who is very bright and could have a potential shot at a grammar school place where we live now.
Any insider knowledge on the school would be very gratefully received!
