How academic is at Alban's boys school

Hello, please can I have some views from parents whose kids go or went to st Alban's boys school, how academic focussed are they and what's your experience, how are the results etc.

Not that league tables are everything but I think it came in the mid 40s for exam results in the Times last year which is pretty decent. It is our target school for our son - we want somewhere academic but not hothouse. We ruled out Habs Boys and Merchant Taylors as being too academic.

also @GAMD just checking you didn’t go to school in Bedford, if you did we probably know each other!)
