Mathswatch vs Heggerty vs Sparx

DDs school used to do Heggerty Maths but I think now their subscription expired they could only renew with Sparx (who have bought out Heggerty) which they’re not doing and have decided to go with MathsWatch. If your child uses Heggerty, Sparx or Mathswatch, please could you say what you like or dislike about each platform?

Sparx- my dc like it and don’t moan about doing homework in it. I like the fact it’s marked in real time and they have to go back and correct. My dc’s school also makes them do a pen and paper proof and hand that in but I guess that’s school specific. I also like the adaptive content.

However I haven’t used the other system so can’t compare.

Hegarty weren’t bought out by Sparx as such I don’t think, Mr Hegarty who invented hegarty maths set up sparx as a new, better alternative. I had a call with him this time last year to discuss moving over. From what I remember, sparx was all the good bits of hegarty (excellent videos, data for teachers, real time marking etc) but better - easier to set personalised work, better videos. Unfortunately it was rather more expensive for our tiny primary school and we had just discovered Atom which is free so we switched to that. I do miss hegarty though!

can’t comment on mathswatch as I’ve not used it, but I wonder if cost came in to it.

Ooh wasn’t aware of atom will check that one out.
heegerty was sold to Sparx https://www.tes.com/magazine/archive/entrepreneur-teacher-sells-online-maths-business so Mr Heggerty got his money, but has also joined Sparx. From what I can read Sparx is a mixture of the best of Sparx and Heggerty.

Money will have definitely been a part of it with school budgets. Just wondering if anyone uses Mathswatch and can comment?

Agree with this, same for my son - works through it well. Seems to be well organised - we also used Heggerty but Sparx feels likes the upgrade to it.

Sparx seems ok.
But dd had got a few homeworks where its not clear how she got so many wrong.
Dd doesnt like the compulsory vs boost etc as she doesnt want to do extra if she doesnt have to.
Theres not many questions per topic and seems like the teacher has set the whole class the same work.

And it only shows on her side with the incorrect amount as result not that shes got it right now
