Hi DD is doing BTEC single (two years) for both applied science and business. I keep trying to find out info from DD but we keep clashing at the moment so I am trying to leave her to it. But wouldn't mind trying to arm myself with some knowledge for when she inevitably asks me! Do they hand in essay type course work for business? That gets marked by teacher then graded throughout the year? Wonder if they get chance to hand stuff in and have an
Idea of what level it is before officially handing it in? Sorry if I sound vague. We had a massive U turn last minute when deciding what to study as grades weren't what she was hoping. So I am playing catch up! Thanks if anyone has some advise or info on how BTECS actually work for someone who has no idea!

Yes they hand in course work all year. Essay form and also projects etc ( depending on course) For my daughters btechs she didn’t have any exams, it was all course work. Just for your info- my daughter went on to get a top uni degree in her chosen career and following that she is working full time.

In answer to your other question.. they v quickly get an idea of what level they are at and what they need to do to get grade up if needed

My ds1 is doing a btech but not in business. He doesn't have exams, it's all coursework and practical assessment. I'm not sure exactly how he's doing but he's working very hard and the teachers are very pleased with him so it's all good.

I have found ot helpful with both of mine to have the spec printed out. Then when they have assignments they can what info might be needed. Spec also explains marking scheme etc.
Search Pearson btec applied science or whatever.

Thanks for replies. I will look up the spec and print out

Some specs are very long as there can be multiple unit options.
Only print what you need otherwise your printer will die of exhaustion!
