Emanuel school 10+

My DC will be taking the 10+ assessment at Emanuel in December. I’m interested to hear from parents whose DCs have succeeded to get an offer in the recent years, if they have any tips or how they prepared or helped their DCs. We’re not applying for a scholarship. Thank you.

Hi. We are also in the process of applying to take the exams. At the moment, need to finalize the location of the exam as we are not in the UK and are based overseas. We are preparing for the 11 plus Kent test. The only thing we are doing different is to focus on creative writing once a week with a dedicated tutor.

Thank you @expatinmys . We’re tutoring a bit as well. I was told they over offered last year at the 10+ entry point and had more acceptances than predicted with no movement in the waitlist, so a bit nervous about DC’s chances. Good luck to you DC.

They did indeed have more people accept 10+ places and indeed 11+, too, so there was no wait list movement at all.

I would prepare as much as you can esp on crrative writing. You can always try next year at 11+ if not successful.
We did majority of prep ourselves, getting him to do mock exams but if you have a tutor, that is a better option.

I’d say Emanuel is looking for bright children who also have enthusiasm for other activities (whether it’s football, drama or art or whatever I don’t think matters as much - but nearly all the children there are passionate about something else too) and who really want to go to that school. They still interview more than most schools (about 2/3) so if you get that far make sure your child has visited if possible, or at least has looked at website and knows a bit about the school. Good luck!
