Hello. DD has a place here. Will be uprooting her from a way to expensive boarding school because the results at SCD are better. Would be good to know what this school is really like if anyone has/had a child there.

Thank you

Very good school. My dc did well there

Hi. Both my DDs attended SCD. MY youngest just finished 6th form. For me, it's an excellent school. Get teachers had all been very supportive and very good.
I know that the school tries very hard for any new students to feel involved and part of the school from the start. Both my Dds had friends with girls that started in the 6th form and their parents commented how inclusive the school had been.
With school work, all the teachers my dds had, were very demanding on the students and both of them really enjoyed the subjects they were studying. They had a good relationship with their teachers, which allow them to feel at easy if they had to speak to the teachers if they had any problems.
I hope you Dd has a brilliant time at SCD.

Very helpful. The main concern is that she won’t know anyone and groups will all be well established. We actually live in Gerrards Cross so well out of the usual Hertfordshire catchment so she almost certainly won’t know anyone. That’s tough for adults let alone a 16 year old girl!

Hi. My youngest DD's group of friends include tween sisters that live in Gerrard Cross and I think there were not the only students from Gerrard Cross in the school. I don't really know how you could find out if there are other students from Gerrard Cross, so they might be able to share lifts. I don't know if the school might help with that.. you could always ask and let see what they say.
For friendships being already stablished, that might be the case, but she won't be the only new student in 6th Form, I think there is a quite few new students every year in the 6th form, some time as much as 40 of them and the school does, (or a at least organised when my youngest started Y12) a day of activities, for all the students to get to know each other.
I hope your DD has a lovely time in SCD!

My 2nd dd only knew my Ed when she went and was 11. We introduced her to one other at induction

Hi @janeyjane38 We are thinking of moving my DS from a boarding school to SCD for sixth form in September 2024. Please can you advise how your DD has found it so far?

Also how hard was it to get a place as an external applicant (out of county)? We live about the same distance from SCD as you.

Hi I would to register my son for the sixth form, as I feel is a good school. But O actually not very sure…..I understand your children are doing A level in scd. May I know what subjects they are doing? My son is thinking to do Maths, PE and he is thinking which one to take for another subject.
we live in bushey and he is in Queens. I feel he needs some motivation to get better results, i think the environment and the teachers are playing important role. Pls advise me. Thanks

Muitan · 28/01/2024 10:02

We are in the same page😁I think you can apply via the school website. The closing date is 16 Feb. My only problem is how to convince my child to move😓he is so comfortable in Queens now. Where do your child goes
