Sixth form switch to Twyford nerves

My shy, anxious but sociable DS has a place at Twyford sixth form but is likely to turn it down next week as he is afraid he will not make friends. He also has a place at his current school and has some friends there but sees them rarely as they live far away.
He really likes Twyford but feels he doesn’t have the confidence to cope with the switch. Not sure how to advise him.. does anyone have experience of joining Twyford at sixth form, good or bad? Or of making a difficult sixth form switch?

Sixth form colleges can be overwhelming. I would stick with the school where his confidence can grow over the next 2 years especially if he has an opportunity to run clubs or mentor dc in the younger years that he wouldn't get at a 6th form college.
