Ewell Castle or Comprehensive?

Would you choose Ewell Castle senior over a comprehensive for a child who is above average intelligence and socially confident? The comprehensive has a progress 8 score of 0.3. Paying fees wouldn't impact on quality of life.

To be honest I’d go for comp, the local comps are good around there and Ewell Castle isn’t that special.

I went for a comp too. Couldn’t see the value add for Ewell Castle at all. Which comp?

I had considered Ewell for my older daughter who is dyslexic and was struggling (eventually went elsewhere) but my other DC is more 'straightforward' for want of a better word.

Presume you’re moving house as well - pretty small catchments. Not TKA or Greycourt?

@GloryBees We wouldn't get into TKA or Greycourt on distance but we would get the ones I mentioned probably. Maybe not Teddington but it depends on the year. It's less popular than TKA and GC.

Hi, I was thinking exactly the same as you and DC is the same but when I have asked around and looked up results etc it doesn't seem worth the fee paying than say Southborough or Hollyfield etc plus the fees will go up each year. Also heard they are struggling with people joining. I know of someone who got into Tiffin but didn't like it so moved to EC and they love it there. Also like it's mixed but so is Hollyfield? I would also like TKA but we are too far.

Oh fair enough. I’d presumed the catchments for the others didn’t overlap but clearly not. I’d be more inclined to go with a strong comp still - see where their friends are going etc although I’d say the ones on your list aren’t as strong as some other local ones, such as Greycourt etc.

I live near EC school and don't rate it at all. Richmond & Kingstonhave great schools.
