Extra curricular fees at Chigwell, Bancroft and Forest

Hi There

My Child will be giving 11+ tests in January for all three schools. Currently, on their website, their term fees are as follows:

  1. Chigwell - £7,545
  2. Bancroft - £7,590
  3. Forest - £8,185

All three schools have many great extracurricular activities, from trips abroad to Music/sports competitions, etc. If someone can please provide a rough estimate of how much extra it costs per year?

Any information will be appreciated. Thanks

Hi. I have a child at chigwell and there are no additional costs to any of the sports activities /competitions. The school provide coaches to travel to competitions and have many after school sports clubs (with a light tea provided too). There are also plenty of other clubs included in the fees both during lunch and after school.
There are costs to individual music lessons (unless you have a scholarship), but I don't know what they are.
There are many optional trips abroad and costs vary. Upcoming trips include ones to Europe (Paris, Rome, Naples and Germany are all current options) for £500-£1000 depending on content and duration to bigger trips to Nasa in Texas or India for about £2.5k. They're all optional though.
I've just looked online to check and in the last two years my only additional costs have been a for an optional football trip to Europe for about £600 and £70 for two fun activity days off site (£25 first year and £45 the second).
I hope this helps.

Looking back through my last few Bancroft's invoices for 2xDD and apart from music lessons and exams and accompanists' fees (which will very much depend on how musical - if at all - your child is) there have been:

  • A subscription to the Old Bancroftians' Association - £12 per term/child.
  • A ski-trip hoodie - £15.50,
  • DofE fees - £250 for Gold, £150 for Silver,
  • Membership of the CCF for a year - £80/child/year,
  • Several late fines at the library - £2.80 (I made DD pay us back for this one),
  • A lost textbook - £5 (and also this one!).

We were also charged for GCSE exam entry - 10 subjects at about £50 each.

In terms of trips - which are paid directly, and not on the fee invoice - we've been on the following over the past couple of years

  • CCF: army camp (extra to the subscription) of £150 x 2
  • Ski trip: about £1,200 for DD2. All-in cost for a week skiing. Hopefully she won't go again.
  • A sports tour to Barcelona for a week - £450.

Everything on that list apart from the OBA subscription and the GCSE entries, but including the late fines and the lost text book!, is optional. Compulsory extras are minimal.

Thanks a lot for your answer and for putting all the details in.

Appreciate it .
