11+ GL English - Comprehension Time allowed?

Hi moms,

Just want to check how long is the time allocated for the comprehension section 11+ GL exam? I know its 50mins for the whole English+VR paper, and each section is allocated separate timings. It is a 2 page long passage with 20-22 questions. I allocate 20 mins for my daughter to do the comprehension, and 30 mins for the rest of the paper. My daughter thinks 20mins is too short for comprehension yet she finishes the rest of the paper very quickly with time to spare. Should I give more time for comprehension? Or should she work towards finishing in the allocated 20 mins mark?Kindly help.

Depends on school exam you took, even use the same GL as paper provider, time is prescribed per school. Some only allow fixed time per individual section, some other school allow longer time across multiple sections.

So it is not possible to answer your question it is down to individual tests you took.

I'm not familiar with the exam in Birmingham & Walsall area. Perhaps you can send an email to the school ask? But probably will not get a prompt reply as it is summer holiday time.

I would suggest just work on the techniques to improve the speed in answering the comprehension paper during this period so even the actual time split not come to your favor your DD still well prepared.
