BOA Academy Waiting List

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has experience anything with BOA Academy’s waiting list. My child has been told she has been put on the waiting list because they have filled in their oversubscription criteria. We haven’t asked what place she is yet, but has anyone had any luck with their child getting into BOA through being on the waiting list, or how many people get out on the waiting list?
Thank you x

Sorry, the last sentence is supposed to say “or does anyone know how many children get put on the waiting list?” x

Looking at their admissions policy, they have a PAN of 150. You haven't stated what year group, so I'm looking at the year 10 number.

You do need to ask what position your child is on the Waiting List. The numbers after your child's current position are not particularly relevant, it's the number above that matter; it may change a bit, up or down, but it's unlikely there will be a huge number of admissions due to late EHCP or extra Looked After/Previously Looked After children at this time of year.

The policy states

  1. Where in any year the Academy receives more successful applications for places than there are places available, a waiting list will operate until the end of the first term after the start of the school year. The Academy Trust will maintain this and it will be open to any parent to ask for his or her child’s name to be placed on the waiting list.

There's always a chance, as people's lives can and do change over the next couple of months, depending upon how many they actually offered to (I see they may consider offering more places, but there's a limit depending upon how many they have admitted above PAN in the previous 3 years - the school would have provided this information for Admissions appeals).

It may therefore be more realistic to consider how to best meet the criteria at KS5/6th form entry, as their PAN is already set up to accommodate 325, so a minimum of 175 external applicants, assuming a full 150 from KS4 take up their guaranteed places.
