We have our appeal next week and have just received our pack from the school and their argument for not taking my ds is, unsurprisingly, because they are full.

In summary, classrooms are physically too small to accommodate more children (they are smaller than DofE guidance for 30 but have 32 in them). But what has confused me is this bit, net capacity is 872 and maximum 969, giving advised admission number of 159. PAN is 160 (Y7 spaces have all been accepted). School currently has 952 on roll.

As the school is not full overall can I argue that they do have room for ds?

There needs to be a space in the Year 7 classes, not just in any class within the school. Our school currently has lots of spaces in its sixth form, and a couple in year 12 - but that doesn't mean we can fit in extra year 7 students.

It is never just about physical space.

Agree with previous post. You need to find other things that may weaken the schools case

Are you appealing because your child passed and didn’t get a place or because they didn’t pass but you want them considered anyway?

Assuming this is a grammar appeal, is it a non-qualification appeal? Are applicants ranked and the top 160 given a place?

There needs to be space in year 7 classes not just spaces in the school.
