UCAS points pre A*

Does anyone know what happened with UCAS points when they introduced the A* at A Level?

I need to calculate mine for an application, but I got As at A Levels before they introduced A* (which was in 2010).

Do I just use the current tables?

Yes, use the current tables. UCAS has a tariff calculator

WhatNoPeas · 12/05/2023 15:22

Sorry does that mean they increased the number of UCAS points you can get from 2010?

The tariffs changed completely a few years ago! You'd have to use the current tariff and maybe add a note that these won't be equivalent to the tariff score (if such a thing even existed) when you took them.

Use the current tariff the admissions tutors will see when you sat your examinations and take that into consideration when making any offers. Applicants who are not in year 13 are often considered differently.

Thanks everyone!

I took mine well before the addition of A star, in 1993, and then an A was worth 10 points, a B 8 and so on down.

The points have changed a lot of times since then! Surely they'll look at your grades and date achieved, as they're not really comparable to current ones.
