My DS just got his place this month . He is very happy and hopes to see you as well on the school opening day this September.
Wishing everyone a great day!😊

Congrats to your DS and your family EandAdad! From what I gather it has been a 2 year journey for you.

We are now in the same situation where my DS just received a waitlist spot yesterday.

Please could you (or anyone else) kindly share any tips/insights/hints on what can be done to help my DS improve his chances (outside of making sure he's prepared for the Entrance Exams)

Thanks for your help!

First of all, both the DS and the parents must show commitment to keeping in contact with the school by regularly updating academic results each term, as well as providing information about extracurricular activities such as music, sports, and any other special talents.
As for my son, since he is an international student, he might have a slightly harder time standing out (though this might just be my personal perception). In any case, I wasn’t aware of any movement on the waiting list (although there might have been some) until around March of the year of entry(2025). The first time I heard about any progress was in March, from a friend (a UK student), and then we received the news about our own progress about two weeks later. Around the same time, we also heard about waiting list movement at other schools, such as Eton.
We also heard (though unconfirmed) that there may be a significant wave of movement after the announcement of the Entrance Exam results.
Good luck! We’re happy to answer any questions as best we can—though please excuse any limitations in our English, as we’re not native speakers.😃

Congratulations on receiving a place. I was wondering, did you receive this place after your DS sat the entrance exam? Or is he still waiting to sit the exams?

I’m happy to answer all of your questions😁😁😁, although I’m not sure if I understood them correctly.
Everyone who receives a place or is on the waiting list(and still waiting to got place) must take either the entrance exam or the scholarship exam in early May, and the results are expected to be announced around the third week of the same month.
My DS offer came earlier, but it was conditional based on the entrance exam, so we still have to sit the exam as required.

That said, I’m aware that the selection process for international students may not be exactly the same as for local students.
If your child is a UK student, there might be different guidance, especially regarding visa timelines. For example, if the offer to international student comes close to the start of term—say, within 2 months—it could be difficult to process everything in time.

Wishing you the best of luck!

Thank you very much for your detailed answer - it’s especially relevant for us as we are international too

Election Roll in 2025 entry was announced Tuesday this week. As a result, 14 place might be basically allocated to candidates in General Place or Waiting List. Good luck 👍

@yukkim @Katenet @parent1709 I've been thinking of you both as companions on this journey for almost two years. May I ask — have you received any news from the school about a place at WinCol? Did your DS take part in the entrance exam?"

Thank you for thinking of us. My son got the good news in Jan 2025.
