Two Secondary Admission Appeals

Does anyone know what happens in the instance of two appeal hearings? We appealed for our first and second choice schools.

The second choice school hearing was last week (we get the results later this week) the first choice school isn't scheduled yet and might not be until June.

If we are offered a place following the first hearing do we have to accept straight away? I assume even if we don't accept it straight away it would be noted by the presenting officer that it had been offered. I think it would then be very difficult to go to the second hearing and argue our case for our first choice given some of the provisions at the two schools are similarly well suited to our child's needs?

You would normally be asked to accept in a few days - certainly not a month I'm afraid. However, panels do appreciate this sort of thing happens so if you still strongly prefer the second school, do go ahead with the appeal. Parents often appeal to more than one school.

Thanks @PatriciaHolm I thought that might be the case.

I'm not that hopeful of being offered a place as the school has already agreed to go over PAN from the waiting list since initial offer day, so I doubt it will be a consideration but will find out soon...

Winning the appeal for your second choice and accepting the place there doesn't stop you from winning the appeal for your first choice and going there instead.
