How did your DC art exam go?

It's really good to get an exam out the way isn't it! Art gcse is not an easy one with all the coursework and books etc as well as 2 days of ecams which is really daunting but well done to everyone! My dc seemed to think it went well. I'd love to see it but not allowed yet, guess it will come home at some point!

Yes! I'm so relived Art is first. So much work went into it. My daughter said she finished and was happy(ish) with it. Now she'll use Art lessons to revise other subjects.

My daughter hasn’t had hers yet

Yes it’s great that it’s over. DD said she was pleased with how it went. Just relieved the coursework is over more than anything as it was really taking her revision time away.

SmurfHaribos · 30/04/2023 23:15

Not everyone has had them yet.

DD is still finishing component 1, deadline is apparently Thursday this week. She was happy with her final outcome in the exam though, so that's something.

So glad it's over as the pressure was actually so intense and has been since January.

I know there are different Exam boards but my DD had the one with the theme Lock.

Such a talent at drawing but less so the written and analysing side of things. She took a photo of her final piece so at least I've seen what will eventually hang on the wall.

My DD did hers last year and got a 7 which she was ok with.

until she found out that literally everyone else had other peoples work in their portfolios apart from her. So she was the only one that didn’t cheat.

Do you mean classmates work in their portfolios?
Apparently they've changed the marking system this year and it's extremely hard to get a top grade.

Not classmates - family!!! One mum and three older sisters that I heard of.

DD had hers the first 2 days back after Easter. She was exhausted afterwards but pleased it's done. She was semi happy with it but I don't think they're ever completely satisfied, that's the nature of art.

I work in her school so saw all the finished pieces. They were astoundingly good. It's such a huge amount of work and yet I'm still telling work shy year 9s not to choose art GCSE because it's "easy". It has been such a labour of love for this year's candidates.

It's definitely not an easy gcse. My dc has to do more course work now. I was hoping when the exam finished that was it!
