Goffs Oak Secondary Schools - Help Needed

Hi everyone, need help with school and education options in Goffs Oak as we are looking to move into the area.

I can see there is Fairfields and Flamstead End primaries both of which look good rating wise.

I am not sure about the secondary options as there seems to be just Goffs Oak Academy which is good.

We are torn between Goffs Oak and Bishops Stortford.

Can you please advise?

Well as you have seen there is only one secondary in Goffs Oak. It is a good school but has a small catchment.

I know Stortford more (lived here for 20 yrs). Lots of choice for excellent primaries and secondary both co-Ed and single sex. Some are ridiculously hard to get into though-depending on which you are targeting.

You haven't said if you have a son or daughter but if you chose stortford and live in the thorley park area and go to manor fields primary (which is excellent) girls get automatic admission to Herts and Essex secondary which is very sought after. Live in that locale and boys are very likely to get into boys high (the bishops stortford high school). All my sons friends who live in thorley park got in along with him. I have one at boys high and one at Herts and Essex - both went to manor fields primary.

The issue with choosing schools like north gate is that you will be on the wrong side of town for the single sex secondaries which makes it a bit harder to get in on distance.
