Bury St Edmund schools

We will be moving to Bury St Edmunds July 24, due to work relocation for both hubby and myself (NHS).
Our daughters are then Year 7 start of Secondary and Year 2 Primary.
We are looking for good state schools but have no idea where to start.

Any suggestions or success stories

I don't know much about primaries in Bury St Edmunds, but I have a friend who has two in secondary. Both started at KEGS, which has a great OFSTED and looks fabulous academically, but both changed because this school does nothing to deal with bullying - it's rife, it's bad. So avoid.

For good pastoral care she recommends St Benedicts - it's Catholic but not aggressively so and its academics are still good.
