Why?

I was speculating; Queen Ethelburga’s were/are very efficient at getting threads deleted if they didn’t like the views expressed.

Wow, talk about censorship man! I was following the BC thread.

BC often do this. They have a prep opening in London, can't afford negative press.

What did it say? Hot house? Gets rid of whoever they deem thickos? I went there, would not send my kids.

It’s weird when schools do this - it makes them look insecure. There seems to be a thread slagging off Eton every other day but they appear to be fairly indifferent.

Agree. I am from the north of England and have warned several people I know in RL away from Queen Ethelburgas after following some of the threads here and the censorship that happened. It left a bad taste in my mouth.

No school will please everyone and every school has its weak points, but trying to shut down the discussion makes a school look really bloody dodgy, seriously.

BC PR people if you are reading this, just give it a rest; you are making yourself look bad by trying to get MN to pull threads.

I think the problem with the BC thread was that so many people were posting opinions without any actual experience of the school. Going to an open day/knowing someone who once went to a school isn’t the same. Everyone can have an opinion (I have several on Steiner/Waldorf schools but wouldn’t dream of posting comments about them as I don’t have first hand experience). The original poster had asked for comments from parents with children at the school, not from a load of people who don’t like the sound of it.

@Bananasplit80 That's fine but that's just part and parcel of social media and happens to all schools, forcing a thread down makes you look like you do have something to hide.

I didn’t think there was anything very damning in thee original thread; some obviously disgruntled parents whose children had not been accepted for the College but also those with ( or knowing of) current pupils who are thriving and very happy.

I had no idea! Thanks for enlightening me. Also I hope in all of the chat you managed to find the info on the school you were looking for.
