Looking for a sporty school for A Levels anywhere in England. Rowing, swimming & netball. Not Millfield. Thanks in advance.

For a boy or a girl? single sex or co-ed? Day or boarding?

Englife123 · 18/03/2023 19:18

It's for my daughter so Co-ed would be a bonus but would consider only girls. Can be day or boarding as we can relocate.

Kings Ely?

Academic level probably matters too. Top top academics, or just solid?

Thinking mainly about rowing (and hoping that schools that are good in that will be fine for the others) I was thinking of Shrewsbury, Pangbourne, LEH, Headington, maybe Emanuel (not as strong in competition but had had pupils representing England recently)

Also some of the general all round schools, like Oakham or St Peters York might be worth a look

Wimbledon High, Latymer Upper, Putney High ( but no pool at PHS)?
All in London so depends where you want to be. If it's for this September all girls is easier as far more likely to have spaces- CoEds get more popular for sixth form.

For very competitive rowing Surbiton would be a front runner for a girl. Headington to as well. Both have a number of girls trialling for GB at the moment.

Putney is also worth looking at. They've had recent national success at Netball and Lacrosse in addition to a strong performance at J15 at the Schools Head on Friday.

Coed with rowing, LU on the Thames with a few boats.
Emanuel, previous head girl rowed for team GB. They have their own rowing house in Barnes and about 70 boats and lots of school rowing trips and competitions.
Westminster school, rowing and girls in sixth form.
Wellington college have a rowing team and flexi boarding.
