Does combined science have 6 exams, or 4?

As it's only worth 2 GCSEs I thought it might have 4 exams, but it covers 3 sciences, so maybe it is 6? Can anyone clarify?

6 exams. 2 for each of biology, chemistry, physics.
They happen at exactly the same day/time as the 6 exams covering the 3 separate sciences, but the exams are shorter.

As above. 6 exams. 2 for each science

Is that fit all the boards including iGCSEs?

Depends on syllabus e.g AQA Trilogy is 6 exams but AQA Synergy is 4. Trilogy is by far the more common of the two.

@NotDonna Ds1 did AQA "Combined science Trilogy" and got 2 grades, 9,9. But he sat 2 exam papers per subject, so 6 in all with papers 1 and 2 in biology, chemistry and physics. The grading only allows the same grade ie 9,9 or one grade lower 9,8, you can't have 8.5. The marks are taken from all the papers sat.

Ds2 sat 2 papers per subject as well but was awarded individual grades as he sat triple science not combined. His exam paper was just longer. Ds1's were 1hr 15 and Ds2's were 1hr 45.

I don't know about iGCSEs, I would check the exam board for science or ask the school who will definitely know.

Thank you everyone. It seems the iGCSE is 3 exams as they just do the paper ones of each of the 3 sciences whilst the separate sciences do a 2nd paper in each. Interesting!!
