Worried DS13 falling behind

Stuckinthenorth · 11/03/2023 16:47

My DS in Y8 goes to a needs improvement secondary (second choice) and is coming home complaining about poor behavior in class, classes of 60 for maths and gets around 15 minutes of homework a week.

Im going to have a battle with STBXH if I move schools and would like some evidence of where DS is against national standards. Does anyone know of tests I could use to help with this please?

Why on earth aren’t you talking to the school?

What was year 7 like?

But I’ll be honest

not a chance I’d send my child to a needs improvements school because that really does indicate problems

was it this rating when he joined?

why wouldn’t your ex want him to move to a better school?

and is one even available?

Apologies for drip feed but I have tried talking to the school. Wholesale lack of engagement from HOY to Senior leadership. Tried reaching out to governors but no response.

STBXH is a stubborn bugger who hates change. Evidence and frankly wearing him down with discussion and making the whole thing happen is only solution.

I did try to move schools when we got result but son and STBXH said it would be fine.

I have parental responsibility
