Due to start in September and would really like to know more about how you've found the school, especially integration at 13+. Is it easy for the new boys to assimilate or are friendship groups already formed?

How easy/difficult is it to get into rugby and hockey teams?

My DS started in year 9 at Reeds and settled in really quickly. It was a pretty seamless experience and much easier than we thought it would be. Helps that there is such a large group of new joiners at 13+ (around 50) and it is also a fresh start for the 50-60 who have come up from The Close (they are put in new houses, new tutors etc). DS made friends initially with the other 13+ joiners but now has a group of friends that are a mixture of both old and new and that didn’t take too long to happen from memory. I’m not sure too much on the sport side as my DS is more of a D/E team player and very happy with that! He was totally new to hockey and was very happy that he was able to opt-out of contact rugby altogether! But those boys at DS’s prep who were in A team rugby there are also in A team for rugby at Reeds if that helps give indication of ease of getting into teams. None had done hockey before from his prep school so they were all in the lower teams initially but some have now moved up I think. Hope that helps. It’s a fantastic school!
