Year 10 Mocks

Anyone elses child having the wake up call that is revising for mocks in year 10?
Not sure that my son has ever really had exams before let alone all subjects in the same week.

They are two weeks away but I think it is the kick he needed to realise that some hard work is needed. He also wants to avoid getting a tutor so he is motivated.
Let's see how long it lasts!

Do you mean their GCSE mocks are in year 10. My ds is in year 10 but his mocks will be in November when he is in year 11.

DDs has end of year exams in May some (most) of which will be full papers. The more practice the better I think. Good to have chance to work out how much work is required.

The school have called them mocks but he does have mocks again in year 11. In theory I suppose they are just exams, but in the hall in exam conditions.
They are certainly being taken seriously so it's given him some motivation to actually do some revision.

DD had mocks in Year 10 last year in the summer term. The school called them mocks as they were in the hall, under exam conditions and they also had mock results day where they were given their results in an envelope.

At the time the school said their results would form part of the school’s report for 6th form applications but in reality I think the November Year 11 results were the basis for that because all the 6th form applications (for us at least) were submitted in January. But that will differ by area I guess.

My DD is in Y10 and has mocks in July. This seems very early. They do have end of term tests in all topics covered so far. Maybe that's it? Can't imagine what these mocks would cover so early in the year.
