Hi All, I have heard that the SPGS WL has started to move yesterday and this morning. Is it still moving? trying to keep hope before Monday's deadline on other schools.

Have someone manage to have any indication of how many people are on the waitlist and their position?

You may want to check if SPGS admissions team is working over the weekend?

Lolakath19 · 03/03/2023 15:28

I have heard it has started to move but not sure if they are done, they probably give the people a day or 2 to accept so might move again on Monday?

1forward2back · 03/03/2023 19:42

It is definitely moving.

DilettanteMum · 03/03/2023 19:59

Last year I know several girls who got places in the summer so yes it will move, but no it will not be done moving before deadline to pay other schools.

Waitlist1234 · 03/03/2023 22:32

How do they do? If they have 10 places do they contact 10 person at the same time? And give them 2 days to answer and then if 7 accept they contact 3 more people etc?

Where the people who have received an offer were told where they were on the waitlist?

Lolakath19 · 04/03/2023 20:52

Have you heard anything? Crossing fingers for you

Waitlist1234 · 05/03/2023 11:47

@Waitlist1234

Caveat: this is second hand information, but our friends accepted who told us their DD was on the SPGS WL accepted G&L at the end of last week because they were told the SPGS WL had been closed.

However, if you’ve not been told this directly by SPGS, then I would still hang on. I’ve found through this process that people don’t always divulge the full situation and their DD may not have actually been on the WL or perhaps they were told by the school that they were lower on it than your DD.

Good luck 🤞

Waitlist1234 · 06/03/2023 09:58

Oh ok, thanks
Do you know when they were told that?

OP posts:
Bromptonmum · 06/03/2023 10:00

Either Thursday or Friday I believe…But if you’ve not been told that, it either means our friends weren’t being fully honest or that your DD is higher on their WL.

Have you spoken to the school directly?

SamPoodle123 · 06/03/2023 10:01

I would speak to the school directly to find out. Call them. Good luck!

Waitlist1234 · 06/03/2023 10:14

I did call them on Friday and they said that they had no update for us yet unfortunately so hopefully it means that we are close to the top of the WL.
Some people on here were saying that some girls got a place later in the year (over the summer and even during the academic year), is that true or a myth?

@Waitlist1234 I know someone last year who got a place in the summer (either just before the end of term or just after - I can't quite remember). People's plans do change especially at London schools with a sizeable international contingent. But I would call SPGS admissions now, explain the situation re G&L deposit and just ask very honestly whether there's any chance of movement for your DD today. And then get the G&L deposit paid asap if not. They're both fantastic schools so your DD is going to have a fantastic time whatever the outcome.

If a place does come up later in the year and you're offered it, then you'll just need to decide if you're prepared to forgo a term's G&L fees, but I think that's a personal choice for every family.

Not a myth. Two girls from my daughters school got places in the summer.

Lolakath19 · 06/03/2023 12:13

I think a couple of girls have arrived in the middle of the year as well but not sure if those were picked from the WL or had a separate admission process.

OhUsMum · 08/03/2023 21:44

A friend of mine rejected the SPGS WL offer last year in September as her daughter had settled down somewhere else happily already. So don't lose hope.

Waitlist1234 · 09/03/2023 10:55

Thanks all for your good wishes. Does anyone know how occasional spaces works? (trying to prepare myself..) It says on the website they will ask school for a ref even before the exams :( which potentially does not look good on the child in their new school if they are not considered for interview. WOuld people that have made it to WL for 11+ be prioritised?

LondonMum20222 · 09/03/2023 11:17

@Waitlist1234 What other offers does do your DD have, and is she / are you happy with whichever you've accepted? It sounds like you're really holding out for SPGS, and there's probably a point at which you need to commit psychologically to the school you've accepted, and if an SPGS offer does come along, treat it as a nice surprise?

SamPoodle123 · 09/03/2023 13:21

@Waitlist1234 I agree with LondonMum. I would ask SPGS these questions if no one gives you feedback here, but also perhaps try to focus on the positive for now, on what offer your dd has/accepted. It may be the case that is the school for her and she ends up really liking it. And perhaps if she went to SPGS she might not like it as much? The grass is always greener....

I would say, if a spot comes up at SPGS, great a happy surprise, but best to prepare if it does not happen.

Any updates? Tiffin and Habs waitlists are moving today and tomorrow.
