Secondary schools in Chester

Hi,
We're moving from abroad to Chester soon. Son will be starting Year 10. Not academic, struggles with literacy (LOA2). We'll be very happy if he gets 5 decent GCSEs. He's a mixed race kid too, so would be nice to see some others at the school.
Currently tending towards Chester International for social reasons - it sounds like the closest to his current school - but it has really low attainment in KS4. I still get a feeling though that it might really suit him. If Chester Int turns out to be a dud, Oother possibilities, if they'll have us, are - Christleton, Bishop's Blue Coat, Upton High, Queen's Park.

I'd really appreciate anyone who knows anything about Chester International in particular, though any info about any of these schools and how they might suit a kid like my son would be very much appreciated!

Upton and Christleton are both excellent schools and have good reputations. Don't know about Bishop's Blue Coat I'm afraid. Queen's Park wasn't for us.

Are you able to send privately? King's is fab but very academic so might not be a good fit. Abbeygate is also worth considering.

Thanks - private school could be an option but a very academic setting is definitely not going to be appropriate for him. Upton and Christleton do both look very good. I hadn't heard of Abbeygate - I assume it's selective but I'll have a look - thanks!
