Tiffin boys vs KGS

We're deciding between Tiffin boys and KGS for our son. Putting aside the financial difference, we can't decide between them. We are leaning towards KGS for a more rounded education. Is there that much difference between them? Thanks!

Well done to your DS! A tough choice if you aren’t looking at the financial aspect, but obviously no wrong answer!
Did you get a feel for whether the students were more his type at either school?
When my DS looked around Tiffin he liked it a lot but I couldn’t see him fitting in.

I know a family making the same decision at the moment. It looks like they are going KGS, purely on the basis that the DS has had more interaction with the school - interview, offer event etc - and so have a bit more insight into the environment and feel confident he will fit in. An incredibly difficult decision though, especially as you can't distinguish them based on travel logistics... Good luck - both brilliant options!

They are both great schools. I think KGS has a higher value added in terms of exam grades. You will also get a much better range of sport & extracurricular. Is that worth 22k a year? I guess it depends how wealthy you are!

My son is currently at Tiffin if you wanted to ask me anything.
FWIW the sport and other extra curricular is great.

You might want to start a new thread, @tabbycat4321 since this one’s about comparing two schools in South West London :) BTW you can get a mouthguard that fits over the braces.

@cantankerousmum hoping we can discuss it now as it’s been nearly two weeks.. it’s interesting as I’m hearing there were two different creative writing tasks and not all boys did the same one! I was surprised by this!

Oh how strange! I wonder why? That will be an apples and pears situation surely for marking purposes? I think the one we got was.. describe a journey to a place you haven’t been before…

I'm wondering if the boy who said he did something different has got confused? My son and most of his friends who sat it said the same as you - but this one boy who said he had to write a letter? Very strange indeed. Unless I hear of more boys having done this I'm thinking he got muddled up with something else... maybe he sat KGS 11 plus which was the next day?

The KGS exam was to write about a night in the desert, a journey and then an end destination? So bit different. Always hard to tell what happened with these little ones!

Agree… I know about six boys who did the Tiffin stage 2 all said the same thing but this one boy.. thought it might be because he did it later (ill on the day etc.) but no same time as the others. Like you say impossible to know! Good luck to your son.. feels like a long wait until the 1st of March!
