Year 9 - Help with catching up for low attendance

DS is in year 9 . For various reasons, he has missed chunks of school here and there intermittently. Can anyone recommend books, videos or anything else we can use that follows the curriculum to help him catch up a bit? He doesn't want to go to after school lessons, trying not to pressurise him too much but at the same time give him some help stop him falling behind. TIA

If he has an offer of after school lessons I would strongly expect him to go.

From above comment. The Reason being in year 10 he will be starting GCSE so he really needs to catch up esp in English and maths because if this carries on and he dosent pass maths and English GCSE he will have to retake them in year 12. Encourage after school lessons so this won't happen

Do you mean private catch up sessions? Agree he only has a few months to make up lost ground before gcses, although some schools may start them in y9. Is the school concerned?

You would be best talking to his teachers to find out what is best to help him

Thanks for the replies. Part of the reason for missing school is anxiety around school which is why he's reluctant to go to after school sessions.

Can you afford one to one tutoring at home?

It would be better to address the anxiety around school directly.
