Salesian Farnborough

We have had an offer from Salesian College Farnborough, which we applied to on a whim as we’d heard good things about it. Can anyone offer any recent experience? We’ll be choosing between it and our local state school and I guess just trying to work out if it’s worth the money. Our DS is very bright and sporty, but can’t be motivated to work hard at anything he finds tricky. Any advice or experience of the school? Also any experience of all boys? Thank you.

We’ve had an offer too. We also have good state options but really like the feel of the school.

To add, we’ve heard good things anecdotally from other parents that have sons there. It seems to focus on the whole child, rather than just academic excellence, although the results are impressive. The recent independent school inspection rates it as excellent.

I have friends with sons who went there until 2020 & couldn't speak highly enough of it. Pastoral care excellent & teachers really good too.

Sorry to Intrupt but I was also considering Selsian school for my boy but can someone confirm me please if it’s only for Christian. I am new to the area and I am not sure. Does it has a good mix of kids.

It has a Roman Catholic ethos, and there is a Christian element to assemblies etc (hymns, celebrating Feast Days) but we were told approx 1/3 are Catholic the rest other or no faith.

We have also decided to accept our place!@Laundryforlife perhaps we shall meet in September!

Great feedback. I too wanted know if this school is only for catholic children.

I can’t think of a local secondary that would come close tbh.

Just to update, we have nearly completed our first year there, and have been utterly delighted with our choice.

May i know if the entrance challenging? We are applying it for next year and worried that it is difficult to get in
