Y6 Wandsworth Test

Hello,
My child is in Y5 and I'm trying to prep them for the Wandsworth Y6 test, does anybody know if spatial reasoning is included in the non-verbal reasoning?
Thanks

I'm not sure if it does. They use GL Assessments for the tests so we used the free resources on their website to do some practice papers before hand for my son and he didn't say there was anything in there that he hadn't seen before.

Thank you @Sazzlesw2 , this is all completely new to me and it seems like there is a lot of different topics to cover!

All of the WT's NVR questions are two dimensional, so I suppose not what you'd traditionally call 'spatial reasoning'.

@puffyisgood Thanks for that, so I assume that the test doesn't have the questions about the cubes and which net could be made, etc?

that's my strong understanding. I've had kids through the test but never seen an actual paper. you may want to consult a higher authority than Mumsnet to be on the absolute safe side. but I've just dug out a 'NVR' practice book my son was using last year and can see that I've made a cross on the page which has the cube/net questions which you've referred to above.

WT NVR primarily covers similarities/sequences of shapes and codes. Can send a sample if you DM. Or you could buy a GL NVR pack. Practice will definitely help. Try a paper version before you advance to online: Atom, BOFA, etc.

@puffyisgood Thank you for your advice and digging out your NVR book, i really appreciate it 😊I have tried to ask the teachers at the school to see if they have any past papers, no luck!

Yeah, I'm not the expert on this by any means, but my impression is that some testers, and many of the study guides etc that you can buy, include 3D type puzzles as part of 'non verbal reasoning', which isn't unreasonable given that the analysis is clearly of a non-verbal nature. You rarely, however see 3D puzzles in NVR in situations where there's a going to be a distinct 'spatial reasoning' test in addition to NVR, and you also, for whatever reason, don't see 3D puzzles in the Wandsworth NVR Test, even though they don't have a separate spatial reasoning paper. Maybe it's just a budget/complexity thing. Thanks.
