Hi There ... my son has an interview at W. What kind of question do they are ask? We also have an interview. I have no clue what they are going to ask me. My son didnt go to a private primary does that make a difference? In private primary schools the teachers prepare them for interview.

Firstly well done to you son getting through to the interview stage.

Whether your son is at prep or state primary really isn't important. They know that boys come from a range of backgrounds - and they like that too. I'd go so far as to say it can go in your favour. My son is at Whitgift having been to a state primary. He was, much to our surprise, awarded a good academic scholarship. I am certain that the fact that all the other boys were in blazers and my son was in an orange puffer jacket (not my choice but he wanted to be comfortable and I thought that was more important) caused the assessors to perhaps view him as a rough diamond with potential.

I wont tell you about the questions/assessments. I cant remember what was asked but I strongly believe that prepping for them is counterproductive. We applied to 3 schools and whilst he got 3 offers, the one that didnt offer a scholarship was the one where I was over the top telling him what to say in the interview. Everyone was happier when I calmed down.

Regarding the parents' interviews - it's a really informal chat. It felt more like they were selling the school to us rather than the other way round. Whitgift went from 2nd to 1st choice after the interview experience.

Good luck!

Hi , I may have come across this post quite late. We are based overseas but thnking of taking the exam, We are British expats in the Middle East. Just wondering if there are students who come from such a background and manage to gain a place at the school? at the moment we are exploring where we could do the test , we have registered for Trinity. May I know which 3 schools you applied to for your DS , @Walkingtheplank
