Forest scholarship interview

Our son has just been invited for a scholarship interview at Forest but the email doesn’t give any information about what it will entail. Does anyone know anything about the scholarship interviews? Also does anyone know how much a scholarship might be worth? I think secondary schools tend to focus their budget on bursaries (which is the right thing to do), so I was wondering if it would actually be meaningful or not? Thanks!

From their website:

”The maximum Scholarship awarded to any one pupil is 20% of full fees, whether in one area of excellence or in a combination of one or more areas of excellence. Up to the equivalent of 6 places may be awarded annually to candidates at 11+. The number of places allocated includes both Scholarship and Bursary awards. However, most Scholarships will be awarded as a smaller percentage, usually 15%/10%/5%”

@crazymama123 does that mean your son has secured a place?

Forest said they would be contacting scholarship candidates from 13th so it seems they have started the communication early.

Yeah I wasn’t expecting to hear back until the 13th so was surprised to hear something today.

They say a place isn’t guaranteed, but I hope it would make it more likely.

That’s what I’ve heard but how is it possible that it does not guarantee a place? Presumably those called for a scholarship must have performed at the very top?

This whole process has been exhausting.

I guess that they want a get out clause in case they really don’t think the child will fit. I agree, the whole thing is totally exhausting! My DS is completely over the whole process and has lost all motivation.
