Hello, we will be applying for 2ndary schools in a year and wondered if there is any intel on SJL vs Roundwood Park. We have seen both and we were quite impressed.

We are looking to move anyway for several reasons so we can place ourselves nearby one of the 2 schools. I wondered what the difference is between the 2. Which one suits which child best? Any intel would be really helpful on schools and community around those schools. Thanks in advance.

Hi there
There really isn't a lot in it. Both are outstanding and you'll get whichever school you're closest to. I have DC at one of those and friends have DC at the other.I think SJL students do more GCSEs than RPS, but worth checking that. Also, they are part of a sixth form consortium with St George's so may take certain A levels at the other school. RPS has great sports facilities which might be newer than SJL.

Not sure when the next open days are but worth getting a feel for your preference. As I say, you'll be allocated your closest one anyway.

How does St George's rank against SJL and RPS?

Depends what you're looking at. Both St George's and RPS have had recent Outstanding Ofsteds - look those up. RPS was only published this week.
RPS also got the Sunday Times Best Comprehensive School in the South East in the recent Parent Power. But St George's often lays claim to being the best state in the country! They're all great, you can't go wrong with any of them.
