Guildford High Interview

Hi, does anyone have any insights for what to expect for Guildford High's interview day? Not sure if it's a new format this year, but it seems to run for the whole day and I'm curious what the girls will be asked to do.
Any past experiences would be most welcome. Thank you!

@jemini31 I am looking for the same information. What to expect for 11+ GHS whole day interview day? The school said it would be a taster say for the girls followed by an interview. Any past experiences shared would be great to know what to expect in the interview and what type of group activities to ecpect.

My DD sat this last year and is in Y7 now at GHS. She was there most of the day and had lunch. They were put into different groups and had to take a photo of themselves in.

She found the day a lot of fun. She remembers one thing she had was oracy and they were sat in tables of 4 and within their group and asked to chose one thing they'd take to an island. They had to agree within their table which item to select and present to the rest of their group.

DD was taken out at one point for a one on one chat for 15 minutes with a teacher and she mostly remembers talking about her favourite books.

I believe the 6th form also help out on the day (and also told them how rubbish the tomato ketchup was!).

DD is hugely happy there. It's a fab school and the assessment day they made fun. Good luck!

It does sound like it will be quite a fun day then.
So there was no Maths and English? They were asked to bring stationery but perhaps it’s more for group activities?

I hope it went well today and they had a good day. If it was the same as last year there wouldn't have been any English or Maths.

Now it's just the wait for the results - felt like the longest time ever last year!

My DD enjoyed herself, thank you for your kind wishes :)
She said it was like a taster day where she did some science, PE, art and also a creative writing piece for English (which apparently doesn't get marked). There was no Maths. Hope this helps for future applicants!

Hi @jemini31 just seen your message about the creative writing piece and am now worried. My daughter uses a laptop for all her long writing pieces at school and so think I need to check with GHS whether she will need a laptop for any creative writing this coming Friday. Eeek

Just extending this thread to see if anyone else can add recent experiences (from Jan 2023) of the GHS interview day? My daughter is attending on Friday and I would love to be able to steer her in the right direction so she doesn’t panic.
