Hi all! Francis Holland Regent’s Park has now sent the invitations to the interview. Does anyone know what percentage of the girls have been invited back? My DD was invited but her best friend (who is more academically able) was not. Both from the same state school.

Hopeful bump as I was wondering about this too! Guess I'll see you there @Londonmu.

Mamabear12 · 15/12/2022 08:14

I thought they would interview everyone, just like Francis holland Sloane Square does?

Planet3 · 15/12/2022 08:29

The head said in an open day that they interview 50% of of their 600 or so applicants, and that they offer well over 100 places.

tamu1234 · 15/12/2022 09:48

We have a similar situation with hits and misses for DD’s friends. I was also wondering about the criteria that the schools that selectively call back differ - given than FHRP has already sent their invite whilst SHHS and G&L are only sending their invites out much later, perhaps taking into account references etc.

Londonmu · 15/12/2022 10:56

They interview early in January, before the school starts. Hence they had to notify the children before the Christmas break. I guess that they are only looking at raw Maths and English results. They wouldn’t have had time to go through all the areas of the exam if they have 600 applicants.
50% to interview doesn’t seem enough. They need to fill in nearly 100 places, and it isn’t the first choice for many (not ours), so they will have to significantly over offer. I assume everyone invited back will either be offered or wait listed

FHRP did interview all applicants a few years ago. I believe that they did it only one year; Fillingham subsequently told parents that it was too time-consuming and, basically, it wasn't worth it from the school's perspective.

@Londonmu, when you say "[t]hey need to fill in nearly 100 places", do you mean that they're planning to start nearly 100 girls in September? They used to target 60 in 3 forms of 20; they have added bulge years when necessary, but I'd be surprised if they really had 100 places each year; the site just isn't that large.

Londonmu · 15/12/2022 11:40

I heard at the open day that they had 4 forms of 24… but maybe I’m wrong

Now the sixth form has moved to the new facilities, they have more available space in the main building for the lower years

I think I heard about 4 forms of up to 20 girls.

It was a different exam format this year using Atom Learning as a basis. I'd imagine they can use some computer jiggery pokery to select girls who answer questions in a particular way that meet a profile that suits them. Should be very quick for them and wouldn't be based on raw scores.

Londonmum1234567 · 20/12/2022 11:30

Does anyone know about scholarships for FHRP (e.g. art) and how that might intersect with the interview process? Like are they completely independent from each other, do they have to “pass” the interview and art gets considered after that?

SayMyNameProperly · 21/12/2022 07:28

Think we're notified this week if they're taken forward for the scholarship. Don't know any more about how that then intersects with the interview process.

Londonmum1234567 · 21/12/2022 11:10

I think they are off now for xmas break, just in case anyone else is wondering why they haven't heard -- but @SayMyNameProperly please do let us know if you get notified this week!

Good luck everyone!

SayMyNameProperly · 21/12/2022 11:15

That's a shame / annoying @Londonmum1234567! I'm sure they said they'd notify us w/c 19 Dec. Perhaps you do have to 'pass' the interview stage before they let you know about the next stages of the scholarship process.

Londonmum1234567 · 21/12/2022 12:58

Oh woops just re-read one of the emails:

"If you have applied for either a Music or Art Scholarship for [DD], I will notify you if she has been invited to the next round in early January 2023."

SayMyNameProperly · 21/12/2022 16:53

That'll be after the interviews then, I'd imagine. Thanks for checking your paperwork. I could have sworn mine said w/c 19 Dec!

Londonmum1234567 · 22/12/2022 19:56

oh @SayMyNameProperly you were right! Email came today about art assessment!

SayMyNameProperly · 22/12/2022 21:30

I'm not going mad then! Not great news for us (it was a genuine long-shot) but hope better for you.

Londonmum1234567 · 22/12/2022 23:00

Ah sorry to hear it @SayMyNameProperly - this was a tricky entry I thought as only one piece, would have preferred if a few pieces as tough for the girls to know what to send in. Drawing assessment in Jan, fingers and pencils crossed 🤞

Good for your DD!

Redapples81 · 08/01/2023 22:31

Does anyone know the interview to offer ratio at FHRP?

SayMyNameProperly · 10/01/2023 19:50

They won't tell us! (I asked.)

Redapples81 · 10/01/2023 21:51

Ah, that’s a shame. I would really love to know the answer!!

snissan · 05/01/2024 10:40

Hello all, would greatly appreciate some intel/insights on the Francis Holland (SS) and Putney High 11+ interview format? has anyone's DD done this last year?

FHSS coming up very soon (10th Jan) and is a 2hr affair including group work / a creative challenge / a 1:1 interview.

Same question for the PHS Athena Assessment??!! Also 2hrs with v similar format.

Super grateful for any tips please = especially what goes on during the creative challenge?
We are in the state school system so my network is limited in terms of knowing lots of people whose daughters have gone through the 2nd rounds at these schools.

Thanks so much in advance
