Moving to Oxford

Hello , my husband is starting a job in UKAEA, near Culham Station
and we will move next year. I have a 9 year old daughter in year 5 and we are looking where to move near a good school for her. We have been looking around Abingdon and Didcot, any suggestions ?

Consider secondary (for primary you will end up with where has space), but you will be applying for secondary at the beginning of year 6 and there is more variety/ in secondary schools. Also consider traffic - traffic to get in and out of Abingdon can be stressful (the bridge out of Abingdon to Culham is traffic light controlled for the long term). Do you want to locate to Oxford - then for commute to Culham, look towards the South of Oxford. Try and avoid needing to use the A34.

I have heard good things about Didcot girls. Ladygrove estate is an established development and mix of families and commuters into London. Wallingford is also well rated and not bad for commute to Culham. In the villages further South, Langtree is also very popular.

State or private?

If we can’t find any state school good , private is an option

We are aware that our daughter is in year 5 and is difficult in the middle of primary to get an space because the classes of good school are already full but we are going to try ….

Surely the European school?

I have contacted them , but they have talk me they are full , and only if someone left the school will be any chance …
