Hampton scholarships

Has anyone successfully received a scholarship and /or bursary from Hampton at 11 +? Wondering if only their top pass marks get that or they offer to who needs it and passes?

The scholarships are worth 10 - 20% max but you can get 2, ie academic and music. I think sport can be as low as 5%.
The bursary programme is totally separate and confidential, as you may know they have a number of students on free places etc.

Also if you get offered a hampton academic scholarship you will almost certainly have a grammar school place and a substantial scholarship offer from another school ie Latymer 100% or KGS 50%. The schools know from looking at your entrance exam ability and other schools you have applied to what else your dc will be achieving.

Scholarships at KCS and Latymer are similar levels to Hampton- very very unlikely to be offered 100% or 50%. Bursaries are a a different matter.

Scholarships are given for music/sport/art/chess or the top performers at the 11+ exam (following an interview). Bursaries are for those who can’t afford to cover all or some of the fees but who deserve a place and are means tested.. They are not necessarily the top performers but it’s the school’s decision who is granted a bursary so I’m guessing they can pick carefully.. Some boys hold a mixture of scholarship/bursary eg 25% scholarships 25% bursary.

I know 2 who were offered scholarships - 1 for art and 1 for music. Both took them as they wanted a local school as opposed to one that they would have to travel too (Latimer et ). One very bright and one well above average in terms of intelligence and acedemics . They both got 10% from memory . Music guy is very talented and playedn3 instruments to a high grade. Sports guy is county player and very good at his sport.
like previous poster said, scholarships are based on talent and ability. Bursary is based on parental income
