Year 7 parents evening

I've been teaching for years now but it's my first experience of the other side in a secondary parents evening. We're very happy with the school etc and they have recently streamed some of the classes. Ds has told me in the last few days there are a few children in his maths class who disrupt the lesson with their behaviour on regular basis. These boys arent in all his classes just maths as some subjects have now been streamed.
Should I say anything or would I sound like an over protective parent?

Say something. It's your job as a parent. Stop trying to be fair to the other side .

The school may do something about the situation as a result of your comments, or they may be able to reassure you about what they are already doing about it. What is there to lose? If you pick up a reputation as a parent the school can't mess with, that's not going to do your son any harm.

You're right. It is me trying to be fair but inside I'm screaming this is my son's education!

I would mention it in a gentle way.
Are you seeing subject teachers, or just form teacher?

I am a secondary teacher and think you definately should say something. The teacher may be having probs with this class and been asking for SLT help but keep getting palmed off!! A parent complaint (esp if they know you are a teacher )may kick start these probs getting sorted and help the teacher who could have been asking for help but not getting it, finally get some!. IYSWIM.

Thanks all. Yes,we're seeing subject teachers. I will mention it. I do want assurance something is being done already about it and if not to as you say give a little push to get something done.
