Experience of CATS tests Year 9 and likely grades?

DD’s CATS scores have predicted GCSE grades lower than her teacher assessments and twice yearly exams are already saying she’s reached. I’m really confused. Obviously I will make an appointment to discuss it at school, but wondered if anyone had similar experiences, particularly with a child with dyslexia and probable ASC (on pathway).

Schools shouldn’t be using CATS for predicted grades. Perhaps targets (ie something to aim for) but not predictions. Sometimes parents can assume they’re predictions when they’re really just targets. I wouldn’t worry about them as teacher assessments and annual exams are a far better indicator of how she’s actually doing. I also wouldn’t waste your own time booking an appointment when a quick email (checking they do just mean targets, not predictions) would do the job.
