Hi, new here and looking for advice! Planning to relocate from London to Bath with my family when DS1, currently Y5, starts secondary school in 2024. We're currently planning on state rather than private as the local schools are good. Am I right in thinking we'd need to be in the catchment basically a year before he starts secondary (ie apply October 2023)? He's very happy at his London primary and I dread the thought of uprooting him a year early, for him to start a new school in Year 6 and again in Year 7. Can any parents who have relocated and been through the admissions process offer any advice? I'm wondering if the only way around taking him out of his primary school at the end of Y5 in order to secure a state school place is to go private...
