Judd Vs Langton boys

Any Kent mums with kids in either Langton or Judd? Our son got 416 on his Kent test and so we have a good shot at an out of county place at Judd or could get an in catchment place at Langton boys.

Our son is very bright and can be hard working when he's interested but is also quite a stubbon character and rather quirky (possibly some ND going on). He does very well academically and loves challenge but is more difficult to motivate with boring day to day learning spellings, neat presentation etc. He isn't at all sporty or musical so the traditional Extra Curriculars wouldn't factor in but he might love stuff like robotics/coding/maths clubs which seemed to be more available at the Langton. We got the impression that the Langton might be more accomodating and flexible with a quirky but bright boy but friends are shocked we're not going own the Judd route since it's such a sought after school. WE don't know anyone who has gone to Judd so have no personal experience. Obviously both our good schools and we'd like our son to have a happy positive experience most of all.

Both very good schools. If you live nearer Langton, I would go for that, especially if your son may have friends there.

It is very easy to get caught up in the competitiveness that surrounds getting into Judd and it's supposed prestige but at the end of the day it is just a school. I am not sure it is worth turning your life upside down by having to move across the county and the extra pressure that will put upon your son just to go to Judd. Especially not as results are similar and you seem to think Langton would suit you son more (Judd's extra cirricular are v. sport based!).

That being said both schools are great with ND boys - both have ASD expertise and both have specialist resourced provision for boys with Autism so will be very aware of ND children's quirks and needs.

Hello,

Could someone tell me which grammar schools are the most academic in Kent?
I also recently read a couple of posts saying that the Judd School had gone downhill in the past 5 years. Is it true? Is the quality of teaching good?
We were thinking of Judd, Tonbridge Grammar School or Skinners for 6th Form for our eldest son who is very academic. He is reasonably sporty.
Your feedback would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
