Sevenoaks Radnor House or Farringtons

Hi, does anyone have a clue how difficult the entrance test is for either Farringtons or Radnor House (Sevenoaks)? My son is low average, and needs a supportive environment - however, I don't want him to do tests that he is likely to fail. Any information would be greatly received?

Our daughter is in Farrington’s senior school and is positively thriving. Her teachers are hugely supportive, she has a lovely set of friends and her confidence has grown considerably since starting.

I am very happy with Farringtons. Those that are not happy with the school should leave rather than continually bad mouthing the school.

This is precisely what we have done, we have taken our son and so did other parents who were unhappy.
I hope that you will never have to see your child so unhappy as we have seen ours and to have him doing counselling for over a year now because of what happened there. I hope your child is not left traumatised by that school! I hope no other child is scalded with a hot drink by one of the Farringtons staff!
So yes I will tell everyone about our experience there, because my son didn’t deserve that and because other parents need to know what is happening there.

So, for you to come and tell me that I am bad mouthing the school in my option is rude and disrespectful given the situation we have been though.

I wish that your child will always be happy in Farringtons and you will never regret your message here!

We have done exactly that and chose to vote with our feet. My children are now at an amazing school and I see what a good private school is supposed to look like. It does not resemble Farringtons whatsoever.

Incidentally I am actually in touch with a couple of current teachers and their opinions echo the person who posted above. They are biding their time and will leave as soon as possible. The current headteachers are very unpopular and staff turnover is high.

As another parent who decided to take a child out of the senior school, our experience was short-lived but poor enough to have a very negative impact. I believe all the comments from those who’ve had bad experiences are posted from a well-intentioned place - to make others who’re thinking about this school reflect about whether this is the right place for their young person. I acknowledge there are those who are happy with the school but that doesn’t mean our experience wasn’t a poor one. Please be kind and understand that there may be genuine hurt underlying any decision to leave a school.

I am sorry that some people have had negative experiences. I personally couldn’t be happier with the school- my children are thriving.

That's great. Not all schools will suit everyone. I just know if I'm paying fees I want more than the mediocre offering at Farringtons.

Just out of curiosity when a teacher has left Farringtons do they advertise to the whole school they left because they were not happy with the changes brought in? Because I have never heard such a thing! How would a parent come up with this idea? When my sons favourite teacher left we were told he is taking some time off work for personal reasons, although all the parents knew it wasn’t true.
I hope this person gets a discount otherwise the post is pointless and and not beneficial for Farringtons as has kept this forum live for further discussion about how awful this school really is.

Yes, the parents were quite disappointed because the boys loved him. My son was certainly very sad to see him go so suddenly. We thought he was made to leave because this teacher had a connection with the owners of RH.
We are thrilled that he found a job in another private school in the area.

Sorry to here you've had such a bad experience. I saw they've recently hired a new Prep School head - do you know if he's any better and what your friends that still work there think of him? Am looking at Farringtons for my 6yo DD and 3yo DS.

Radnor house Sevenoaks is a fantastic school on every level and my children are very happy there.
