Do state primaries disclose former learning difficulties if asked for independent school reference?

Hello,

We are in the process of applying for independent secondary schools for my son. He currently attends a state primary, but we were abroad from year 1 to year 5 at an international school.

He had some issues early in primary when we were abroad and had an educational psychologist report carried out in year 2/3. I gave this to the UK state primary when we joined but the issues raised are no longer relevant.

Does anyone know if the state primary will disclose this report when asked for a reference by the independent secondary? Can I ask them not to as the report is now outdated?

Thanks for your help!

Has he actually been officially diagnosised with any learning difficulties?
If yes then the secondary needs to know.
If no and your soon didn't need any extra support at school then I assume no.
But I am just guessing.

My dds file was not passed on despite the fact it was still very relevant

As far as I know, the 'reference' given for both my DCs comprised a copy of their last school report.

Thank you - I agree. He has not been officially diagnosed... he had some problems with executive functioning, organisation, concentration, handwriting etc, which have now been resolved. If the report was relevant I would share it with the secondary but it was done four years ago and the points are no longer valid.
