Quirky DD - story choice for exam

So DD is sitting various exams for 11+ entry to senior schools at the moment. She had her first one yesterday and they had to choose between a story about pets or a story inspired by a photo of a fairground. She chose the photo.

When questioned about what she wrote about she revealed that she’d written a story about a werewolf apocalypse.

We’re doomed, aren’t we.

She had another exam today. Apparently this time she didn’t write about werewolves. She told me very proudly that she’d taken on board what i said.

So she wrote about a reanimated corpse instead. Finding a lost island and searching for treasure on the high seas.

I’m seeing a theme here.

Maybe next time she’ll choose vampires! I just hope they’re not too bloodthirsty!

They called me this afternoon to offer her a scholarship…..

That topic isn’t in the least bit quirky though - all my very “mainstream” youngest daughter’s friends would write that kind of stuff. Blame (in a good way!) shows like Hunger Games and Stranger Things! Apocalypse, dystopian future, mythical creatures…
This generation grew up on Harry Potter not Famous Five… that leaves its mark 🤣
