Sick days in year 7 and falling behind

So my DS is in year 7. We have had a lot of problems with anxiety and school refusal, though he has not missed a day yet. Unfortunately he has a nasty cough and cold and is feeling pretty rubbish. If we were in Primary school I would have let him miss a day or two to get some rest, but it feels like they cover so much so quickly in their lessons at secondary that even missing a day means the kid falls behind. What do you all do about secondary school and illness? Am I over worrying, or am I right to make him go in unless he has a fever or vomiting etc?

If they aren't well enough to go in then they don't, if they are then they do. If they are genuinely ill then they should be at home.

If they would be spreading loads of germs around and not learning anyway then have a day or 2 off.
If possible see if he can get a friend to photo any notes/homework or grab handouts.
On any one day there will be lessons that matter (eg maths) and lessons that matter less (eg PE) so it may not be as much to catch up on as you think.

I would keep off, and say to keep an eye on their chrome book or whatever for homework. A bit of catch up.
