Richard Challoner is an outstanding school and academically the boys do very well. Amazing and dedicated headmaster, my son is very happy there and doing very well.

Both are excellent schools. My son is at the College and is very happy. Great facilities, lovely area, very good extracurricular options and pushed academically.

We chose RC over WC and have not regretted it for a second. Really lovely supportive friendly school where my son is flourishing. Is a bit smaller than college which helps, sport is still fantastic. The staff are clearly extremely happy there. We have a group of friends who could have chose either. The vast majority went for RC. WC is less good for additional support although they talk the talk and I have the impression the head is safe/old fashioned/not dynamic or as inspiring as at RC.

My boys are both at WC, both very happy and doing really well despite being completely different characters. Lots of different opportunities and a strong ethos of supporting the boys through recognition of positive behaviour. Very strong management team. 6 boys were offered Cambridge/Oxford places last year. Great location and facilities.

For these schools do you have to be a practicing catholic to have a chance of getting a place?

Playdoughcaterpillar · 05/09/2023 13:55

Yes realistically you do. Although if you live very close and are another Christian denomination, there's a chance.

@WaitingGame20
i know this is a very old post! But wanted to ask how your child is doing? My son has an EHCP we are looking to apply for Richard challoner and Wimbledon college

RJZion · 04/09/2025 19:37

@Sandrita48 which school did you end up going for? As we are looking to apply for both

WaitingGame20 · 04/09/2025 20:05

@RJZion Richard Challoner is nothing short of amazing my Son is just about to start Year 12 and his A Levels after doing very well in his GCSEs, the school prepared them very well and most boys are able to continue and take A Levels. All the staff are very dedicated and so approachable, they really want the best for their students. I think they have an open evening coming up soon so its definitely worth you going along for a tour of the school and to speak with staff and students.

RJZion · 04/09/2025 20:08

@WaitingGame20thankyou so much! I was really impressed with the SEN support they give the students we visited last year! Your post is reassuring

WaitingGame20 · 04/09/2025 21:00

@RJZion You’re more than welcome. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask. Good luck 🙏🏻
