Secondary school move

Hi all

We are planning to buy a house in Wanstead, Woodford Green, South Woodford, Chigwell, Loughton, Buckhurst Hill.

Can you recommend secondary school for my DD who is now in Year 7, please?

Based on schools we a slightly adjust our location.

I rang few comprehensive & grammar schools but none them were able to tell if they had any place. They just directed me to speak with Borough admissions dept.

Also, Redbridge Borough couldn't provide me details with in-year admission for grammar schools

Your help will be greatly appreciated as we moved from Ireland only late last year.

Having moved child in year twice, you do need to slightly take potluck. Ie being in normal distance offered for a particular school won't guarantee you a place. On the flip side though you could get offered a place at a school you wouldn't normally be in catchment for. A school having a place now wouldn't help you as by the time your property purchase was complete the place would likely have gone. What would help more is if you could delay her start at school potentially for her to be on the waiting list for a desirable school? For example could she commute to old school or could she home ed for a bit?

Agree with PP - please put the area in the title and it will catch the eye of someone who knows the schools.

However, as this is an in-year transfer, you need to speak to the admissions department to find out which schools have places and then go from there. The most popular school in the area is very unlikely to have space, although you may get lucky.
