Do GCSEs like English have a coursework element these days?

Nope, no coursework unless you are taking subjects like DT, textiles, food, or drama. Otherwise it's all on the exam.

Depends on the exam board and course I think. DS's English lit has course work element last year.

Is that GCSE? pretty sure there is no coursework now. If it is iGCSE it may be different.

Then it wasn't GCSE. iGCSE maybe?

GCSEs changed a few years back, so that they are all final exams only, except for those more practical based subjects e.g those listed by clary.

Sounds like was IGCSE then!
